Washington Learning Center Golf Course

Nice little place not far from the city. Both grass and hitting mats available. Not terribly long as far as driving ranges go but it is definitely better than not hitting golf balls.

It should have been a quick 9 hole game but it was not. We spent more time waiting than playing. Play actually took about 7 minutes per hole. There was a group ahead of us with what appeared to be 8 golfers. It appears that t-times were not kept and they were letting groups on at any time.

Its a great golf course for beginners, if you are a better player don’t waste your time. The greens are very firm and quick and the guy at the counter was very nice. There were some tee time issues. Overall not bad.

After a brief phone encounter I had last week with a female worker at this place, I can understand why there are numerous reviews mentioning how extremely rude their employees are. I’m a fairly new golfer (3 years in) and I’ve never golfed here before. I called in to ask if the grass section of the driving range was open. The lady says in the most condescending tone “they’re closed until May”. I replied with “oh ok thank you” and before her or I could say anything else she hangs up the phone. This person sounds absolutely miserable and should work on better phone etiquette and people skills. I’m more than likely not going to ever come there and it’s a shame because I love all of the other Metroparks courses I play regularly.

I have been a newer golfer as of this year. My friend was home for school and we decided to try this course; she has been golfing for a while. There was a stack up of people immediately at the first hole (about 5 carts). We hesitated on hitting right away as we would be hitting up on the group of three in front of us, and possibly injure them as the distance was only about 170. One of your workers, named David, was extremely rude and started explaining we needed to start hitting because we “couldn’t hit to the green.” We had some hits that went towards wooding areas and he started explaining to us how to play golf and what to do (as if we did not know how to play.) He said that we needed to drop in that case and I explained that we know how golf works and do not need his input. He then said “he was trying to teach us how to golf. He was extremely rude and very sexist. He singled us out and did not mention anything to the groups of men behind us about getting ready to tee up. Later on in the course we were met with him again. Once again he gave us more trouble and told us to hurry up even though there was a group in front of us still. Extremely terrible experience. I’d love to speak
